Cry

Sunshine
The sky
Springtime
Alive
(she smiles at me)

I have been away so long
I have been away so long
I have been away so long
I could cry

A nice day
To play
A holiday
Away
(she smiles at me)

I’ve been away for so long
And then awoke to the dawn
I have been away so long
I could cry

Morning-time
Arise
Sleepy-eyed
Surprise
(she smiles at me)

I have been away so long
I have been away so long
I have been away so long
I could cry

Well Sugar, you can click on the link below and scroll down to the last song on the page!

It’s the last song on my 2nd music page because it’s probably the least favorite of my recordings. It’s actually hard to sing lyrics slowly and my voice is awful on this track. But I was recording it for fun, and it was an experiment to see how FEW words I could use– I’m normally very wordy– and I wanted to write a song with just simple phrases that still told a story..

Anyways, that’s my excuse. I haven’t listened to this page in ages, but after visiting it today I might post “Out Of Our Hands” as another poem… if HS will let me!

I listened to it and it was okay…
    It reminded me of a 70s or 80s tune…
It was hum very long…lol…. but I liked the guitar…
    If only I can sing….

I agree, it started as an experiment and by the time I got the drums and guitar down on tape I already knew the tempo was too slow for a song that had so few words.. I never went back and re-recorded it.

p.s. Cry is ten seconds shorter than Out Of Our Hands, but that song doesn’t feel as slow once the story starts happening (in my opinion.) 10x the words in the same amount of space…

    Thanks for the opinion!

I agree…sometimes depending on the beat shorter words are better…I don’t know if you know the band A Perfect Circle but in one of their album they have a lot of songs short ones..the beat is good so you don’t even realize that they’re repeating the same lines twice…

I will check out the second one later
