LOL funny how in the end when I was tryng to picture the novocaine all I kept thinking about was doing drugging me or putting me to sleep to ease my pain. Good to know I was on the right path.... hope to read more from you and hear from you.

Hi Sugar! Thanks for the compliments.

somehow I can’t picture Novocaine, that’s still a little fuzzy to me…

haha. You got it right on the money, actually. The novocaine line is supposed to illustrate fuzziness... the haze of confusion that one pushes through, trying to gain an uncertain understanding.

The "tincture of Deprecation" line is supposed to call to mind the image of a person bathing in a negative image of themself... if that makes sense. Deprecation, by definition, is the act of expressing disapproval (especially of yourself). Usually, feelings of self-worth spill out onto the other people that one meets in life, whether for good or ill. In this case, it was ill and now all that this charachter can feel when he tries to touch the spirits is "bitterness and cynicsm".

I'm really glad you enjoyed the poem. Thanks for reading!

Wow, what an amazing poem. I love how descriptive it was. The points were illustrated very profoundly. I love the imagery and the metaphors, lots of metaphors. Somehow you use words that can never be together or one would use to describe a certain, like
in a mixed atmosphere
of Obscurity and Novocaine.
I can picture this a little bit, the darkness and the easing of pain… somehow I can’t picture Novocaine, that’s still a little fuzzy to me…but I think I get the point.
At home, I bathe myself
in a tincture of Depreciation.
It leaves a slime-like film
of bitterness and cynicism on my skin.
What an image you created above. I’m a little confusing about the line “a tincture of Depreciation” am not sure if it makes sense but that’s just me…? It would be nice if you could explain that line to me…
