R.W.P "If I read a book and it makes my whole body so cold no fire can ever warm me, I know that is poetry".

Emily Dickinson

Glistening Words

Listening to glistening words

Birds circle endlessly, mindlessly

Finding time, rhyme and primal thoughts

Begotten of stress-this mess is blessed

With the higher pyre

Nonsense is at best a defense

Minded, blended and blinded

By single-minded purpose, designed to

Usurp us and refined in kind

In a scheme yet dreamed

To enter December in its icy splendor

Pagan rite! Delight in the sight

The brighter eyefest tested and

Carried back, hairy, black in fact

And too inquisitively dismal

Listening to glistening words

A coy ally to toy with in time

The signs still sublime

Yet clear with fear…so near

From our hearts it parts

Nonsense makes pensive expanses

When chance leaves the dance, heaves

And pushes forth…towards the door

Barred by a tardy heart, alerted, harmed

In its charmed alarm

To enter December, white and tender

Remembering the clever lover of forever

Pulled and pulled, fooled by cruel words

Heard, hard discarded, broken-hearted

Never started and hence departed

“Till the clock struck fore
Then seven-the silent evermore
And I shall wonder
Once the solution became the cause
Have I slain thee oh Brother?
Have you chained my heart?
Now given and held
Dying at this insight, for wrong it is
No joke made by satanic folly
Is more corrupt than my dream”

My life
Empty, confused, meaningless
A million miles from here
A desert wind on a blinding sand dune

You appear
A life-line, a dream realized
What was dying reborn
My heart, vision rekindled

So unaware
That beauty could be mine
To hold, to love, to cherish, to nurture
In my world so cold Continue reading →

In my heart
Alas, not in my life
Your life initiated
By acts of love
And by this love
We were parted

In my heart
To womanhood you grew
Sad, I did not witness
Nor was I there to hold you
To dry your tears
Never to calm your fears

In my heart
Always a part of my soul
I searched, Yes! In vain
And I waited on tender hopes
That you would someday
Seek me out Continue reading →

In darkest night when fear awakes
And ghosts emerge from their hiding place
I take my love by trembling hand
Together we walk nightmares’ land
Where terror lurks ’round every bend
In blackest black, end without end
I hold my love close to my heart
And boldly stroll where paths are hard
When dreams escape, let no dread fall
Behind the closed eyes of our wall
I raise my love above myself Continue reading →
